Red Kite Family Centre is a community-based charity dedicated to supporting the families and carers of children aged 0-5 in the surrounding area. From our sites in Thame and Chinnor, we offer a broad-ranging programme of play groups, activities, courses, and advice which provides an essential lifeline of help and encouragement to our users encompassing every aspect of their early years journey.  We also offer one to one support to families in the form of parenting advice, help with filling out forms such as disability living allowance and school applications, confidential access to domestic violence services, support with job applications, access to food banks and referrals to other services.

Our Values

Welcoming – Everyone - Red Kite welcomes families and young children in all their diversity whatever their ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, health, and social background. Care givers and grandparents are always welcome and targeted sessions such as the Saturday Dad’s Club, and Sensory Explorers for children with additional needs, help foster supportive new relationships.

Community – Engage - engaging with the local community is at the very heart of our ethos. We work closely with professional teams such as the Midwives, Health Visiting Team and Schools as well as strengthening bonds with local businesses though sponsorship and workplace volunteering.

Learning Together – Encourage – Giving our families the tools to create positive and lasting change. Feeling supported and well-informed is an essential building block in nurturing the next generation. Our fully-trained staff host skills courses, such as First Aid and Family Nutrition

Supporting – Enabling – Helping our families access the support and guidance needed to make the best start in their child’s life. Our staff provide advice and assistance, giving targeted support to families where needed, whether it is help with forms or signposting to other services.

Chinnor Garden

As you may be aware, early in 2023, we lost our key business sponsor, resulting in a significant financial hole in our budget. At that time, we feared that we would not be able to open our doors again at the start of the new academic year in September 2023. However, following a big appeal in our community and the generous award from a local Trust, we secured enough funding to enable us to keep supporting local families.

However, our challenge now is to reach a sustainable financial position. We need regular financial and other support from our community to keep doing what we do best. You can help by becoming a Friend (a regular donor) or by recommending us to local businesses who might be interested in becoming a Sponsor.

We always have a card tap machine at our Centre and our events, so please feel free to donate on a more ad-hoc basis if that works better for you.

Thank you for supporting us so we can be There For Every Family.

Meet Our Staff Team
Our services are delivered by a wonderful team of five part-time staff supported by volunteers and a dedicated Board of Trustees. Every penny of our income is spent on delivering services to the community.
